Flowering phenology and fruit formation of Capparis micracantha in the Bogor Botanic Gardens

Abstract Capparis micracantha is a Capparaceae family member. Generally, studies on the phenology of this species have not been widely reported. Current research focuses chemical composition and its potential as medicinal plant. Additionally, another interesting phenomenon C. presence black ants. This study aims to ascertain development flower fruit formation, well ant- symbiosis. The observation was conducted from January 2017 until 2020, twice week at 08.00, 11.00 a.m, 02.00 p.m., including branch, leaves, flowers, fruit. results indicated that shrub with beautiful both perfect imperfect flowers. number flowers approximately 80% greater than round, green when immature, red fully mature. period bud into ripe between 90 100 days. February-April, June-August, October-December are fruiting seasons. ants coexist plant in mutualistic
